If Sainz doesn't spring for Mercedes then I think Mercedes will be very limited in who they can get to fill that seat. Kimi will not be ready, nor experienced enough, assuming he even deserves an F1 seat in the first place (which he doesn't, it has to be earned). Toto very publicly going bananas over Kimi like he's the next Max Verstappen will handicap them. They will either have to try and entice Albon, or go for someone else currently on the grid (or even Mick Schumacher if all else fails). Or alternatively try another rookie from F2 who's been more successful and deserving of a chance (like Zane Maloney). I can see a possibility where Esteban Ocon ends up at Mercedes on a 1+1 because he's desperate to get out of Alpine and he has a relationship with Mercedes already.

Can we please stop over hyping Kimi Antonelli FOR FIVE FREAKING MINUTES!? He has yet to complete a single season in a more serious/top end Formula and so far isn't posting results in F2. People going senseless over this kid acting like it's a foregone conclusion that he's already the next Max Verstappen when that simply isn't the case and that he deserves the Mercedes seat already (as opposed to his more experienced and successful F2 compatriots) because... why again?

Russell needs to be the number one driver, he doesn't function as a number two. Mercedes would do well to focus on Russell and get a good support driver. I'm pretty sure that Russell would click up another gear.

Russel is amazing, I think in Mercedes he can beat anyone, so no matter what Toto decides he’s going to be there. He’s is growing every race. And he is perfect for Mercedes. I think Sainz might be up for a one + one year deal in Mercedes, I don’t really see him in the back of the grid for next year. But yeah… we will see… 😃

I really liked Bottas at Mercedes, and especially after see the 2022 regs thinked that they should have kept him for 2 years, and maybe they could have found some way to fix the mercedes, with 2 drivers going the same way, without one wanting to prove that he could replace the number 1 driver. They needed stability for develop the car well, but they get sometimes a Nico Lewis 2.0 I dont say GR doesnt deserve to be at Merc but i think just that he got in at wrong time.

I think Toto himself is very unsure who he wants. I have nothing against George, but it seems Toto's faith in him has diminished slightly after 2023, which is not a good sign at all. I don't think Sainz will agree to anything less than a 3 year deal, which i doubt Merc will provide. Antonelli for me is way too hyped up, his performance in F2 is ok to say the most, i just don't think he is or will be ready for a Merc seat for at least the next couple of years. But if Toto believes he might be the 2nd Max Verstappen, then sure, he might go for him. I think the most secure and intelligent option is to bring in Esteban Ocon.

The main reason Audi aren’t rushing to sign there 2nd driver, after announcing Hulkenburger this week is because they are waiting to see how Jamie Chadwick is progressing as a driver in the IndyCar feeder series NXT. They have stated that they would be proud as a team to have there drivers represent both genders and be the first F1 team to have a female driver since Giovanna Amati in 1992. The 3 time W series champion believes she has what it takes to win in F1 and compete with the best regardless of gender. Despite being 22 seconds a lap slower then the then 2022 Williams reserve/test driver Logan Sargeant when she tested the Williams F1 car as part of there driver academy program, Jamie feels she has learnt a lot since then claiming that she was wearing the wrong foot wear during the test and feels the heels she was wearing affected her braking and has since started wearing a Puma racing boot. It’s believed that the current owners of F1 Liberty Media are also hopeful of this partnership coming to fruition stating that Jamie could help them reach a bigger audience and bring in lucrative sponsorship into the sport, with the likes of L’Oréal, Maybelline and Vagisil all in contention to become the main title sponsor of the new Audi F1 team.

Sakhir was a one-off performance on a one-off circuit. It simply confirmed what anybody who had been paying attention already knew: that George had potential. Demonstrating potential can only get you so far, you have to also demonstrate development. I think George’s lack of development is becoming an issue - he simply isn’t taking his driving to the next level the way that he should be. Compare Norris, for example. He had potential, but everybody expected Ricciardo to come in and dominate him and become team leader. Norris responded to that pressure by significantly upping his game from one year to the next. Now that he has Piastri pushing him, he continues to respond. George, meanwhile, hasn’t been progressing the same amount. Maybe George has had it too comfortable - he went from easily outperforming back marker teammates who didn’t have the ability to put pressure on him in a car where he wasn’t expected to have any significant results to a team where it was always expected the torch would be handed to him and he wouldn’t even have to outperform his teammate for that to happen. Lewis has been really struggling with the car, and making things even worse for himself trying to find the perfect set up, which isn’t going to happen in that car. George should be much farther ahead of him than he is. Maybe it would’ve been different if the Mercedes was still competitive, Lewis was focused on winning rather than fixing the car, and George was expected to be on the podium every weekend and taking the top step from time to time. Maybe it would be different if Kimi comes in and can pressure him like Oscar pressures Lando. Maybe with the right pressure, it will push him to develop his potential, but right now it just feels like his development has stalled - and he really hasn’t shown that he has what it takes to be the lead driver in a top team.

Please stop making up history as you go just to make yourself SEEM...clever. Everybody goes straight to that Monaco crash as if it happened all the time and it just didn't and if you look at Max's record during his first two years and look at anybody else who's lasted a while, the stats(FACTS) tell a very different story. Maybe one that's not as sensational but Max never apologized for anything and was quite clear that he was never changing his driving style and even told the press to stfu about it and he hasn't changed one bit. He just doesn't have to deal with that crappy, Renault engine holding him back any longer and he can do as he pleases, which would have happened long ago if Red Bull had a competitive engine back then.

We all know that Georgie Boy is happy with the Merc he’s driving atm, and the company car is pretty sweet to….but we also know he’s a proud Brit and very patriotic, and you can see a sadness in his eyes that he’s not racing for a British F1 team. I think deep deep down George really wants go back to Williams, linking up with his old buddy Albon and help rebuild the team to is former glory and achieving race wins by 2035. He’s also stated many times since leaving Williams that he misses the very rare 1994 Renault Williams Clio hot hatch he got to drive.

for me, what this BIG interest from Toto on Max means is that Merc does not fully believe in George to step up nad be an unquestionable World Championship winner, but mainly, considering where they are now, that George can help them build a championship winning car...

I think George is ready to be a no.1 driver at Mercedes and I think the only driver that can push him further to be better is himself testing his pace to rb, Ferrari, McLaren and alonso once that merc is quick again and I think the driver to partner him for 2025 is Mick Schumacher, he was signed to the Mercedes academy in 2024, hes been on the simulator to help Mercedes to develop the car better, hes also currently the reserve driver for Mercedes and hes currently in alpine for WEC. Put mick in the merc to develop his skills then I bet George and Mick will be pushing each other to be better, if mick doesn't get a Mercedes seat or Williams for 2025 I can see Alpine signing him.
